About the artist...
Like many members of her
family, Patricia is a life long
artist.
"I've always been surrounded by great examples of creativity and big personalities!"
"I was kind of shy in my own way as I grew up and I guess I found it easier to express myself and 'fit-in' through art rather than words."
|
And express herself she has!
You can find her artwork in a
school, homes and
restaurants around her town.
She is currently writing and
illustrating several children's
books that will be published
soon.
A graphic artist by trade for
9+ years, 'Tricia', decided to
focus on her children and
became an at-home mom in
1993.
Tricia now resides in the
Kentucky Lakes area with
her husband, Kip and their
two children.
"Today, my family is my
greatest inspiration!"
"Being home with my children has given us all a great sense of place and love. I'm hoping my time at home has positively reinforced to my children that they are loved."
"I've been so inspired by their silliness and the way they view the world. They are the colors in my world!"
"I've thoroughly enjoyed every moment I've had with them and being home with them has taught me a whole new meaning to the word... MULTITASKING!!"
|
The children are older now,
and involved in their own
pursuits and she has more
time to explore her creative
side.
Now, most of the time you
can find Tricia in the second
story of her home in her art
studio busily plotting out her
next painting.
She has a couple of helpers,
her poodle at her feet and
two cats, she claims often try
to help her paint or type on
her computer.
When looking through her
newspaper art plaques, art
awards and certificates from
her past accomplishments
she shrugs and states,
"I was excited to win those
awards and I'm competitive
enough to have always
appreciated coming in first
place, however, the actions it
required to win them were far
more fun than the winning."
"I just really enjoy creating
whether it is an ad for a
company or painting...
Or whatever! When I can
make someone smile and see
their eyes light up with
amusement over something
that I created. That's the
best reward!"
"I find myself constantly
evaluating everything
artistically from intriguing
people's faces to the way the
light moves around through
the trees or around objects.
I'm constantly learning from
everything around me and I
try to go back and capture
that with paint."
"I've always worked in pencil
or pen and ink however, I've
found my true love, paint.
You can achieve such instant
satisfaction and color."
"Although I'll never be
Rembrandt, I still enjoy what
I do and playing with what my
skill allows. I wish that I had
so much more skill than I
do... Still, more often than not
I'm surprised myself with
how things turn out. I don't
know where it comes from
other than a small gift from
God to me.... Guess HE knew
I'd never be good at math
and maybe thought... 'I'll
make her a painter?!."
There are a great many
talented artists in the
Kentucky Lakes area. The
number of artists with high
caliber talent here is
amazing. It's neat to see the
many mediums they create
with at the local exhibitions.
Someday I hope to have
enough pieces of my own to
display. They are better than
I am... But that's okay, I just
like to have fun with what I
can do.
